When I Grow Up, I Want to Be More Like Rev. David

Picture this: A gravely ill child lies motionless in a remote El Molo village, unable to eat or even open his eyes. His desperate parents watch as two men—one a Maasai missionary who had just completed grueling seminary exams, the other an American who had traveled halfway around the world—kneel beside their son and pray in Jesus’ name. Within moments, the child opens his eyes for the first time in days and begins to drink milk.

This wasn’t just another ministry moment; it was Rev. David Parmuat living out the calling that has defined his life for over two decades.

Today, I’m thrilled to announce that Rev. David has been appointed as Beehive Global Collective’s Regional Director for Kenya—a role that feels less like a promotion and more like a divine appointment that’s been twenty years in the making.

The Dream That Changed Everything

I first met David over twenty years ago on the plains of Olderkesi, when we were both young men with big dreams and uncertain futures. He was preparing to enter Kaboson Bible College after finishing Form 4, and I was serving at Olderkesi Development Project. Neither of us could have imagined that two decades later, we’d be working together to reach some of the most isolated people groups on earth. But God had a plan that began revealing itself during David’s time at Kaboson Bible College. One night, he received a prophetic dream that would reshape his entire trajectory: he stood before a large crowd of very dark Africans dressed in white gowns and white hats, preaching the Gospel. Upon waking, David knew with certainty that he had been called as a missionary to the North, to bring the Gospel to Muslim communities in the Sub-Saharan Desert.

That dream wasn’t just a spiritual experience—it became a roadmap for his life.

From Vision to Reality

David’s journey from dream to fulfillment exemplifies the kind of faithful perseverance I want to emulate. After graduating from Kaboson Bible College with his higher degree, he is currently attending classes at Kenya Highlands Bible College for his Bachelor of Arts in Divinity. But education was never an end in itself; it was preparation for the mission field. When David graduated from Kaboson, he and his wife Christine made the bold decision to join Africa Gospel Church as cross-cultural missionaries—Maasai who would serve the Samburu and Rendille peoples.

The beautiful irony wasn’t lost on any of us: God was calling a Maasai to cross cultural boundaries and reach other pastoralist communities with the Gospel. Today, David and Christine live on the OMTI campus with their four children: Jemima, Joy, Jesse, and Jude. Together, they have built a life centered on ministry, with Christine serving alongside him as they raise their family in the mission field. When David is not in Marsabit overseeing the church in Nairibi and the surrounding communities, he assists Beehive’s work in southern Kenya at Olderkesi Development Project—bringing his ministry full circle to where we first met over twenty years ago.

Ministry Partnership and Support Structure:

David’s role as Regional Director represents a beautiful model of inter-organizational collaboration. He remains deployed by Africa Gospel Church, where he has served faithfully as a cross-cultural missionary, but is now seconded to be mobilized by Beehive Global Collective. This partnership allows David to maintain his deep roots with AGC while expanding his impact through Beehive’s innovative proximity discipleship model. As David transitions into this expanded role, he will need to raise an additional $700 USD in monthly support to fully fund his work as Regional Director. This includes not only his family’s living expenses on the OMTI campus with Jemima, Joy, Jesse, and Jude, but also the increased travel and ministry costs associated with shepherding multiple church communities and training emerging missionaries like Peter LeKombe. Partners who join David’s support team will be investing directly in the multiplication of indigenous church leadership across Kenya—supporting a proven leader whose ministry has already resulted in over 90 new believers among the El Molo alone, established churches in multiple communities, and the training of the next generation of cross-cultural missionaries.

Indefatigable in Service

Nothing demonstrates David’s character quite like the two weeks leading up to our recent El Molo Expedition. While pursuing his Bachelor of Arts in Divinity at Kenya Highlands Bible College, David was required to attend lectures in Nakuru, then immediately travel to Kericho for exams. Upon completing his exams, he circled back home to his family at OMTI campus before traveling by matatu to meet Dan and me in Nairibi.

After two weeks of grueling travel and end-of-term seminary exams, he joined us for three weeks of intensive ministry that would take us to some of the most remote corners of Northern Kenya. While sleeping in tents in the deep bush of the interior, David had every reason to be fatigued. Instead, he was indefatigable, providing the strong pastoral leadership our team needed throughout the entire expedition. This is the Rev. David I’ve come to know and deeply respect—a man who understands that ministry isn’t about convenience, but about presence.

Ministry That Transforms Communities

The results of David’s faithful service speak for themselves. On our recent expedition, we witnessed first contact with the El Molo people—540 individuals encountering Jesus for the very first time in their history.

In the secret camps of Moran warriors, we watched 60 young men trained for warfare lay down their weapons to pray and receive Christ around shared meals.

Under David’s pastoral leadership, over 90 El Molo accepted Christ as Savior, and the village atmosphere shifted from suspicious hostility to warm welcome.

But David’s impact extends far beyond single expeditions. He has established the mission field in Marsabit, Northern Kenya, that now serves as our base of operations. His vision for cross-cultural missions has become the foundation for scaling the Beehive Global Collective model—empowering indigenous missionaries like himself to reach their own people and beyond.

Recent ministry highlights include the newly commissioned church in L’Moti, the fledgling congregation of Lependera, impactful work with students from Nairibi and Lontolio, and his crucial role in discipling emerging missionaries like Peter LeKombe.

Leading Kenya Forward

As Regional Director of Kenya, David’s primary focus will be multifaceted yet strategic. He will continue to shepherd the established and emerging church communities in Nairibi and surrounding village churches of Lontolio and Lorripa, ensuring these communities grow in spiritual maturity and evangelistic impact. His oversight will also extend to L’Moti and the newly birthed congregation in Lependera, maintaining the pastoral care that has made these churches so vibrant. Perhaps most importantly, David will facilitate the strategic move toward mobilizing cross-cultural itinerant missionaries like Peter LeKombe.

This represents the scalable vision of Beehive Global Collective in action—developing indigenous leaders who can cross cultural boundaries within their own nations to reach unreached peoples.

The Leader We Need

What sets David apart isn’t just his calling or his achievements—it’s his character. He embodies the kind of leader who:

  • Prioritizes presence over pursuit, understanding that the most profound ministry moments happen through faithful positioning rather than chasing experiences
  • Maintains long-term commitment, building trust through consistent presence even when it’s costly
  • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity while addressing spiritual bondage, respecting identity while bringing transformation
  • Empowers others, as evidenced by his mentoring of emerging missionaries like Peter LeKombe

David represents the scalable model of Beehive Global Collective perfectly. As Regional Director, he will focus on no more than three ministry partners, providing “proximity discipleship” through biannual visits while empowering cross-cultural missionaries within Kenya.

Both he and Peter LeKombe are living examples of how this model can expand Gospel impact significantly by mobilizing indigenous leaders.

Twenty Years Can Change Everything—Or Bring You Full Circle

As I reflect on our journey from those early days at Olderkesi to our recent breakthrough with the El Molo, I’m struck by God’s providence in bringing us back together. Twenty years ago, we were young men with big dreams. Today, David stands as a proven leader ready to guide Beehive’s expanding work across Kenya, supported by Christine and their family as they continue their life of ministry service.

When I grow up, I want to be more like Rev. David—a man who receives dreams from God and spends decades faithfully working to see them fulfilled, who prioritizes calling over comfort, and who understands that true leadership means empowering others to reach their full potential in Christ.

The little fires that Dan saw in his prophetic dream are burning brightly across Northern Kenya, and under David’s leadership as Regional Director, I believe we’ll see many more flames ignite across this nation. From Nairibi to L’Moti, from established churches to emerging missionary movements, the Gospel is advancing through every context, every culture, every conversation—and Rev. David Parmuat is exactly the leader we need to fan these flames.

Welcome to your new role, my friend. The best is yet to come.

IMPACT • EMPOWER • MULTIPLY

From one man He made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from any one of us. Acts 17:26-27
