Trans-Mara Region, Kenya

Olderkesi Development Project

When Olderkesi Development Project was founded over forty years ago, its first buildings were the only permanent structures on a lonely stretch of plain in the Trans-Mara region of southern Kenya.

Nestled in the center of five Maasai villages, the project was founded on the guiding principle to bring Enkai (God), enkare (clean water) and endaa (food security) to the Maasai.

Today, the project is striving to continue to lift up the guiding principles it was founded upon.

A deep water well, powered by solar, supplies water to a 4 acre garden, which in turn supplies food to three surrounding schools, which exist under the leadership of Africa Gospel Church (Oldkersi Primary, Olderksi Secondary and Olderkesi Missionary Training Institute).

In December of 2023, leadership from Africa Gospel Church approached Beehive Global Collective, asking that we become more involved in the day to day running of the project, placing ODP under the directorship of BGC. This opportunity came after ODP had been functioning without direct leadership for several years. The partnership was a natural fit, as Olderkesi is where Mat Luce, founder and Director of BGC began his work as an overseas itinerate missionary.

Today, work has begun in earnest to return Olderkesi Dev. Project to full operational capacity, with a long term goal being to bring the project into financial sustainability.

The Bigger Picture

Olderksi Dev. Project is currently providing food and water for both Primary and Secondary schools, as well as the Missionary Training Institute. At Beehive Global Collective, we felt it critically important to get involved with the project at this time for several reasons. At the top was the support of the Training Institute (OMTI). Currently, BGC is sending three evangelists from the Marsabit station who are working with Nairibi AGC planting churches in the Northern Desert to OMTI for critically important church leadership education. So, for Beehive Global Collective, supporting both ministry fields really is just a full circle opportunity to be a part of what God is doing in Kenya.

Current Ministry Needs

$20,000
Needed for travel and operational costs and ongoing support of the project through the next year
$15,000
Needed for salary support. Many of the current workers at Olderkesi Development project have been working through the course of the last few years without salary pay, and have even sold off members of their personal herds to support ongoing needs at the project. One of Beehive Global Collective’s first priorities is to ensure these individuals are supported and paid for their ongoing devotion to the project.
$15,000
Needed for vehicle repair and maintenance. Several thousand dollars have already been invested by Beehive Global Collective to repair the Project Land Cruiser, however there remain more repairs that need to be completed in the coming year, as well as scheduled maintenance. Additionally, there exists several maintenance needs which must be met on the heavy equipment, which is vital to ongoing work and financial sustainability of the Project.
$15,000
Needed to complete land surveys and and finish fencing the entire property of the Project.
$10,000
Maintenance and repair needs for eh Backhoe and Tractor. Repairing these essential pieces of equipment will allow more financial sustainability, as this equipment will be hired out to make water catchments and plowing in the surrounding villages, as well as serving the immediate needs of the project garden as well.
$6,000
Needed for improvements to the garden, including replacing the high-tunnel netting for the seedling nursery, replacing drip irrigation lines, and installation of an orchard.
$3,000
Needed monthly for operational costs for fuel and maintenance.

From one man He made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from any one of us. Acts 17:26-27
